An introduction to the Parish Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer – Jenny Howell
I am delighted to be the Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer for Temple Cloud with Cameley Parish Council. Since joining the Parish Council as the Clerk back in October 2016, I finally moved to the village in February 2018 and have settled into village life well, receiving a warm welcome from all.
A bit about me – I was born in Buckinghamshire and have lived in Leeds, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Sheffield, Cardiff and a short stint on Kitakyushu, Kyushu – the Southern Island of Japan. I have an interest in Public Services having previously worked for what was the Government Office for the South West as well as the emergency services for a number of years.
Coming from a Public Services background where honesty and integrity were the two main requirements I believe I am well placed to perform this role well. In terms of professional development, I have helped lead the Parish Council through the NALC Foundation Award to ensure that the Parish Council operate at the required standard and as a result, the Parish Council were able to resolve to use the General Power of Competence. I have also studied for and completed ILCA (Introduction to Local Council Administration) and CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) and am now recognised as a ‘qualified’ Clerk.
Throughout this time, I have been lucky to find a mentor who has previously served as a Councillor for Temple Cloud with Cameley Parish Council and is also a Clerk with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
At present, the Parish Council have one vacancy in the Office of Councillor and with the term of the present council now coming to an end, a new council is due to be elected!
